Bout of Books 10: Sign Up & Goals

2 comments:
Bout of BooksNot yet acquainted with the read-a-thon, Bout of Books? Find out all about it below (there's still time to sign up, it begins Monday!) and my goals for the week:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.
The last time I signed up for Bout of Books, it ended in a bit of a flop. But I’ve been getting back into reading lately (yay) and putting my slump behind me (double yay), so I decided to sign up. Plus, who doesn’t love the idea of a week full of reading? :)

BoB goals:
- I plan to read 3 books and while titles are TBD, here’s a snapshot of some of my TBR books on the shelf, that I plan to read soon. Let me know if there's a book you'd like my thoughts on!
- I probably won’t do any of the challenges, but I hope to join in a Twitter chat, if possible.

Have you signed up? Tell me what you’re hoping to read next week - participant or not - and feel free to suggest/recommend what I should bump up on my list.

Bout of Books 9.0 - Sign-Up, Goals and Updates

4 comments:
Ever since I participated in Bout of Books for the first time last year, I’ve been looking forward to joining in the fun again and now the wait is over - it starts tomorrow! I always end up having a bit of a reading break around Christmas and I’m still getting back into it so a read-a-thon sounds perfect, especially since I’m trying to keep on top of the goals and challenges I’ve set myself – I don’t want to get behind! In case you have no idea what I’m talking about:

Bout of Books 7.0 Wrap-up

6 comments:
With Bout of Books now over, I thought I'd do a wrap-up post to let you know how I did with my goals. For someone who hasn't read much this year due to being in a reading rut and lacking motivation, I had such a productive week, and most importantly, I had fun! This was my first Bout of Books, or read-a-thon for that matter, and I personally can't wait to do it all over again in August!

Goals
- Read at least 5 books - I can happily say I read one more than my goal, making it 6 books in total! I haven't read so much as I have in the last week as I have all year so I'm over the moon! I think this is just what I need to get me motivated and back into reading!

- Participate in 2 challenges - I didn't participate in any challenges like I'd hoped but what can I say, I was too busy with my nose in a book.

- Participate in 1 Twitter chat - I participated in not 1 but 2 Twitter Chats as they were so much fun I couldn't resist. Next time, I'm trying for all 3!

- Chat with other participants & discover new blogs - I did chat and socialize with others during the Twitter Chats which was awesome but I didn't discover many news blogs unfortunately. There's always next time!

Pages read: 2,012

What I read:

Expect reviews for (most) of these titles shortly! And if you'd like to share how you went, either link me or comment!

Bout of Books 7.0 (and goals)!

I’ve always wanted to participate in Bout of Books or even just a read-a-thon so I’m glad to finally be joining in one. I’m so behind in my reading and think this is the perfect opportunity to play catch up and have fun but also without being stressed out. In case you’re not familiar with Bout of Books, here’s the low-down:

Now that you know all the details, I’d like to present you with my goals and what I plan to read during the read-a-thon. Since I don’t want to put too much strain on myself to read ALL THE BOOKS, I want to keep it pretty simple. The main thing for me is to have fun and that's what I plan to do.

Goals
- Read at least 5 books - Titles TBD
- Participate in 2 challenges
