Exciting Book News: Embrace Series To Become A TV Series

Since my mum isn’t interested enough and doesn’t seem to be jumping up and down, I thought I’d come to my sort of people (aka: mad, obsessive, dedicated, loving readers) who aren’t afraid to lose their cool and let their excitement show.

So. The news?

The CW to Develop New TV Series Based on Embrace by Jessica Shirvington
From Embrace series' official website:

Sourcebooks is thrilled to announce that the CW Network, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and CBS Television Studios are adapting Jessica Shirvington’s young adult series, EMBRACE, into a television series.

What makes Jessica Shirvington’s EMBRACE series unique is the combination of a high-adrenaline storytelling, engrossing character development, and a richly imagined mythology.

It’s this captivating combination that has led to the development of a weekly hour-long drama for TV and has won over teens, adults and critics alike:

“I would be lying if I said I hadn't daydreamed about this possibility. To now have the option with The CW, Amblin/Dreamworks TV and CBS Studios, is mind blowing,” says Shirvington, “These are absolute industry leaders and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to see how things develop!”
Now, I haven’t yet started the series (I know, bad Becca!) but this is just so exciting! I’ve got a copy of Embrace sitting on my shelf and I’m really looking forward to reading it, especially after hearing this amazing news. I’ve heard great things about this series, I love angel books (Unearthly, Hush, Hush) and Jessica Shirvington is Australian – all exciting points! If you already knew about this, that's awesome but since I only heard about it today, I just had to share and sqee just a little.

For more information (there isn't much at the moment, but Jessica has said she'll be sure to keep us in the loop with updates as she receives them) visit:

  1. Initially after I finished reading 'Embrace' I was blown away by it all. But I don't know, in the end it just wasn't for me. The main character makes really annoying choices and the love triangle thing is painful to remember. There's a good amount of mythology in it though, so you'll probably love it. ;)

Anyone who has read 'Embrace'... surely you know how frustrating the love triangle thing was. Plus I hated both of the guys. BUT ANYWAY, I'm commenting with excitement. For people who have liked it as well as those who will watch it in the future. Maybe it'll even bring more reluctant readers over to the good side.

Btw Bec do you have the other books in the series? I still have them all... :|

    1. Look who it is, so nice of you to stop by! *waves*

Really annoying choices and a painful love triange? This doesn't sound too good. I hope I end up enjoying the series. Sorry to hear you had trouble with it though.

Nope, I only have Embrace. I'll read that first and then go from there :)

  4. I actually didn't like this book as much as some others did, however this is very exciting news! Even though the book fell flat for me, I think I'd check out the TV series. :) Thanks for sharing, Rebecca!

  6. Hmm, I haven't read this yet either. I'm really wary of angel books (unlike you I normally don't like them). BUT, I LOVE CW shows! Hahaha. What doesn't work in books for me any more (painful love triangles, neverending angst, etc.) is GOLD when it comes to teen tv shows. :) I'll have to look into this book more and see if I want to read it. Also, I'm LOVING this trend of turning YA books into TV shows or movies! More please!
