On Hiatus

As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t been around much lately, hardly at all. It’s not because I don’t have the time or anything like that, it’s because for me, blogging has lost its fun and has slowly become a chore.

I’m not reading or blogging for me anymore. It’s become about churning out reviews and making sure I have something to post regularly and keeping up with my reading challenge. All important things take into consideration but not the reason I started blogging which was so I could share my passion for reading and books which I’m sad to say is diminishing.

At the moment I don’t have any motivation to blog. I want to be blogging next year; I want to continue reviewing; I want to get excited over comments again. I certainly don’t want to stop blogging but I need some time away to fall in love with reading again, without the hassle and stress of blogging at the back of my mind so that is why I am going on hiatus. This isn’t an easy post to write but I know it’s the right thing to do.

I want blogging to be exciting again. I want my reading mojo back. That is why I’m taking this blogging break. I’m not sure how long I’ll be out of action for but I’m thinking a couple of weeks and then I’ll reassess.

Thank you all for being supportive and awesome. I hope you know I appreciate you!

  3. I went through the same thing a little while ago. I decided that I would still blog, but I took away the pressure and I no longer stick to a posting schedule and I don't agree to review all requests. It is so nice not to have the stress! Your love will return I'm sure xx

  4. Totally understand this. I actually decided before I started blogging that I wasn't going to try to get books for review. I read books that I want and it's a lot less pressure. I really don't think I would have fun blogging if I felt I HAD to read certain books and review them. :s So yeah, good for you for taking a break and taking care of yourself! I hope you find your passion again, but it's okay if it changes and you need to do things differently. :)

  5. *hugs* I SO understand how you feel, Becca. I've been absent from posting due to time at the moment, but I've been feeling very similarly to you over the past few months. I really hope your break helps you to feel refreshed and come back swinging into things. Just like everything in life, sometimes we NEED a break or maybe reassess things and take on a different approach. Reading should be something that makes you HAPPY. So take as long as you need and know we'll all be here when/if you decide to return! And still here while you're away, because hello, you can't get rid of me that easily, Arnette. I HAVE YOUR TWITTER HANDLE *STALKS*

  6. Aw, Becca, honey *huggles*
I hope you're OK. But seriously, exactly what everyone else has said.

And you DON'T need another chore in your life. You have school and homework and responsibility, and if a HOBBY is starting to feel that way, you owe yourself a break.

    *hugs*
I LOVE YOU. And I'll be waiting for you/stalking you in the meantime XD

  7. Aww I completely understand how you feel. Sometimes my blog is all I can think about, and recently, it's been stressing me out big time. :(

I think I need a break too soon. I hope your hiatus serves you well and you return with that much needed motivation! *hugs*

  8. I can understand your feelings. I thinks it's important to make sure this is fun or step away from it for a while, as you're doing. Hope you find pleasure in reading again soon. :)

  11. Dammit, who said you could go away before I really got into your blog because I was away!? Now, I'll have to settle for your older reviews until you return to me. Why are you so MEAN?

  13. I feel ya! I'm so overwhelmed right now, SO BEHIND, and basically so depressed because of that, I seriously had a few days when I was considering dropping out, deleting everything and just.. not getting stressed over all that anymore. It has become a chore for me, too, and for that reason I'll be taking December off. To read the books that I WANT and I CHOOSE to read for once, and not the ones that are waiting to be reviewed.

Everyone needs a break sometimes, eh? Rest, relax, and come back energized and happy! Blogging is supposed to be fun! :) <3
