Fireflies by Jonathan Harlen

Fireflies by Jonathan Harlen

When John Berryman falls for Johanna Carling, its a riot.
The Americans. The police. The government. They're all involved. Because Johanna's father is a diplomat. And John is anything but diplomatic...

Novel for young adult readers which tells of the unlikely relationship between Johanna Carling, the daughter of the American Ambassador in Australia and John Berryman who left school early, writes radio comedy and has largely dropped out of society.

Reason why I love this book:
* It's an Aussie book
* Great male POV
* It was published the year I was born, cool.huh :)

Fireflies is a unique, entertaining, crazy, funny and loveable read. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
The characters were great and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them.

It was an exciting adventure, (especially toward the end of the book) and had me in a page flipping frenzy wanting to know what was around the corner.

Although the ending was sad, it really was the only option.

I would definitely recommend this book to others, the only thing is, it's out of print.
Don't fret though, I found a copy at my library. Maybe you will too!

Rating 4/5.

  2. Hey hey, just a suggestion. You might want to title your blog posts. ;) It shows up just that little bit cleaner on Google Reader, as well as that there blog archive you have on the side.

    Nice review. Your style reminds me a little of Nomes' - clean, simple and succinct.

    WOW! YOU'RE SO YOUNG. 1997 - so you're like 14? Coolies. We need more 'actual' young adult Aussie bloggers. LOL, most of us are like 18+.
