Blogspiration (15): You Belong

Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by Growing Up YA & Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers & writers alike. Blogspiration is motivating and inspiring and is sometimes just what you need to hear at that exact moment, but most importantly, it brings us together – that’s why it’s sad to see it end (at least for now). I have more to say and more to share and for that reason, I found it really hard to pick how to end my last Blogspiration, but finally decided on a lovely, bookish quote that I hope you all enjoy as much as I do. So for now, farewell, and to all those who stopped by Reading Wishes - it has been an absolute treasure sharing with you and reading your comments.

Last but not least, a huge thank you to Kristin and Sarah for hosting such a beautiful, positive meme that sparked and spread creativity, inspiration and love amongst the blogging community - you took an idea and turned it into a magical one.

We all have them – dreams. Some are whispered; others shouted for all to hear; some are only let wandered in solitude. Maybe it seems impossible or unlikely and like such a scary thought but that’s what makes it REAL. So squash those not-so nice and negative thoughts and continue to dream, never giving up, hoping one day that maybe, just maybe, it will work out. It won't be easy and there are sure to be bumps along the way but if you wan't it badly enough, that's all you need to know.

Blogspiration (13): Kids Need To Read

I saw this posted on Amanda @ On a Book Bender and after reading it and falling in love with what Nathan Fillion had to say about kids reading and the importance of giving them the opportunity to discover the magic of books, I knew I had to share this with you all. Looking back, it’s hard to imagine growing up without books and visits to the library and to think that there are kids out there who don’t know the power of a good book and getting lost in a whole new world is sad. Fill up the library with books and choices, stack the shelves high and low and at least give them the chance to read. That’s all anyone can ask.

This quote is absolutely gorgeous. I love it.

Dahl passed away in 1990, but not without leaving a legacy of stories that have been enjoyed by generations and many more to come.

You might have noticed I haven’t been around much. That’s because I’ve been saving the world, I mean watching Buffy save it. Since Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my latest mad obsession, I thought I’d share it with you because it is awesome, amazing, kickass and I LOVE it.

No offense to you Twilight lovers but you have to admit, this is SO true.

I haven’t read The Help but I watched the movie a few days ago and it’s AMAZING. This quote really struck a chord with me. I love it. It's something we all need to remember, especially when your having one of those terrible, all-round bad days. YOU matter, don't forget it.

P.S - If you haven’t yet read the book or watched the film, I highly suggest you do so. It’s empowering, heartfelt and so worth the time.

This is GOLD. I’m sure we can all relate to this happening; that moment when you finally get your hands on a book you’ve been anticipating forever and whilst you desperately want to start reading it, a little voice is telling you to pace yourself because once it’s over, it’s over, except once you start reading, it's that good, you gobble it up in a flash. Wash, rinse, repeat. Wail, read, repeat.

Though I have never read The History Boys and probably never will, I can certainly appreciate this quote. YES. ONE THOUSAND TIMES YES. *happy sigh*

You know those times when you’re reading and you come across something you’ve often thought about yet you’ve never mentioned to anyone, it’s just something you’ve pondered and thought about quietly, yet here it is, someone else’s thoughts that resemble your one, printed on paper and binded together in a book. Wow.

I stumbled across this last night after the amazing, talented, fabulous, Trish Doller (I like to gush about this lady whenever possible. Her debut, Something Like Normal? INCREDIBLE.) posted it on her tumblr. LOVE.

I procrastinate and I’m sure most of you can relate. Heck, book bloggers are some of the best procrastinators I know. But this image is…PERFECT. If your working toward something and really want to achieve it, you’ll power ahead and just do it. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, but start anywhere. As long as you get the ball rolling, it will all work out in the end. Ask for help when you need it; take a break every now and then. Have a go; work hard and give it your best shot.

Whatever it is you’re working on (or not) – writing a novel, perfecting your macaroon recipe, creating the next Mona Lisa – if you want it badly enough, you’ll make time for it (see: authors).

Blogspiration (4): Astonishing Books, Amazing Authors

Books are rather simple objects – paper, ink, words – but they are so much more than that. Books open our minds, get us thinking, provoke emotion, connect us with other readers, engage our attention, enable us to escape from reality, get under our skin and weave themselves into our very soul. Books make me want to do and be better and for that I am forever indebted to authors.

As you know, it’s Author Appreciation August so don’t forget to say thanks and repay some love! Authors are amazing human beings (like superhero’s but better) who deserved to be appreciated and adored, so make sure you take the time to say ‘thanks’.

Author Appreciation August has begun, and when I saw this image it was exactly what I had been looking for and not to mention, absolutely true.  We lose ourselves in books, and stories and the fictional worlds authors have whipped up for us to devour and enjoy. Reading not only enables us to escape from reality but to live, not one, but a thousand lives. We have authors to thank for this.

Take your pick, and journey into the unknown; there’s magic waiting to be discovered.

I found this a few months back when I first discovered pinterest. I loved it then and I still do. So true and beautiful and inspiring. Do I really need to go on? I think not. These words speak loud enough for both of us. ♥

Blogspiration (1): Keepin' It Real

I really love this picture - it's bold, funky, true and most of all, it applies to the book blogging community and what's been happening recently. You should never have to sacrifice your opinion of a book when writing a review or be scared to put forward your honest thoughts. I’ve made some great author friends but even when I read one of their books and review it I always tell the truth. Always. Just because you might not like a certain book doesn't mean you should diss or verbally abuse an author. You won’t like every book you read and that is absolutely fine but it's important to keep your reviews honest yet fair, that’s really all authors can ask. You’re entitled to your opinion but just remember to be careful with your words, they can be powerful things. To wrap this up: keep it real and don't be afraid to voice your opinions. Let them be heard.
